GCHQ supplier pans government file-sharing plans – ZDNet.co.uk.

What a croc. Detica say that you shouldnt use their spying tools to spy on the public for copyright infringment yet it is selling its services to virgin for that very purpose. Oh, of course they are anonomysing the data so people cannot be identified but what do you think the next logical step is? Why would Virgin want to do this if they didnt intend to then go that small step further and start passing on their customers data to Universal for a raft of copyrights infringement cases. Its distusting that Detica is supposedly taking the moral high ground in saying that deep paacket inspection is not proportionate to the crime and should only be used on terrotists. If they were that bothered they wouldnt let Virgin do it! I like it though that the Detica spokesman said that if you encrypted your P2P traffic they would ignore you, but I doubt most teenagers who download habitually will have the technical knowledge or funds to buy a VPS and then use Putty to tunnel their P2p traffic using SSH. I teach this stuff to my Y13’s and they struggle with the theory. I smell a tutorial coming on.
